VISTA — James A. Wood, 81, a former Escondido resident, died this morning at a Vista convalescent home. Mr. Wood lived at 339 W. Broadway, San Diego.

He was born Oct. 6, 1885, at Arapaho, Neb. He had lived in the county 30 years. He was a farmer all his life.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marie Tyer of Panorama City, and Mrs. Thelma Long of Vista; two sons, Francis of Montana, and Leo of Long Beach; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial park, Escondido, under direction of the Vista Chapel Mortuary. The Rev. Graeme C. Smith, pastor of the Vista Community Church, will officiate.
