Ronald Fitch
Ronald D. Fitch, 97, of Nampa, Idaho formerly of Pomona, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at a Nampa, Idaho care center. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1,at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Pomona. Dr. Elizabeth E. Bingham will officiate. Ronald was born March 23, 1906 in Farnam, Nebraska to William and Charlotte Fitch. He graduated from Farnam High School and attended the University of Nebraska. In 1929, he and a buddy drove to Riverside, CA in his Model T. He married Sybil Caughron and had 2 children, Ruth & Roger. He purchased Mockingbird Dairy and milked cows until WWII. He moved his family to Long Beach and worked in the shipyards. After the war he drove bus for Pacific Electric Railroad. He and Sybil divorced and he married Bea Gibson. Ronald went to work for Pilgrim Church as a custodian, which was his favorite job. After retiring from his job at the church he traveled in his motor home. Bea passed away in 1978. He later married Lois Novell. Ronald played golf, belonged to the local lawn bowling club, and played cribbage every Thursday. When Lois died he moved to Idaho to be near his children. Ronald was a member of the Pilgrim Church and Odd Fellows. He volunteered at the hospital and did meals on wheels. Ronald is survived by his daughter, Ruth Caldwell of Nampa, Idaho, brother, Robert Fitch of Riverside, CA, 6 grandchildren; Merle, Jim, Mike and Dan Caldwell, Kim Brunlinger and Krista Beaver, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great daughter. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois and a son Roger. Memorial donations may be made in Robert’s name to your favorite charity.
