Obituary
Ida Mary Finder Lehman

Ida Mary, daughter of Michael and Wilhelmina Finder, was born October 5, 1866, at Lake Mills, Wisconsin. She passed away near Farnam, Nebr. February 15, 1961, at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 10 days.

While Ida was still a child, her parents emigrated to Sherman county, Nebr. She experienced the challenge of developing a new country—first, in the Sherman county neighborhood, as a young woman and later, with her husband and young family, in early Frontier county.

She was united in marriage to Lewis Lehman, September 20, 1897, at Loup City, Nebr. To this union were born four sons and two daughters. After living in Sherman county for nine years, they moved to a farm south of Farnam. This was their home until the death of Mr. Lehman, on March 16, 1933. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Lehman lived with her son, Roland.

Mrs. Lehman was baptized into the Christian Church as an infant, and at the age of thirteen years she was confirmed in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, at Lake Mills, Wisc. During the remainder of her life, she worshipped in the Church in the communities where she lived. She was a faithful student of the WOrd of God; through this discipline, she received strength and grace to keep her Christian faith until the completion of her life’s journey.

Those preceding her in death were: her husband, Lewis, two sons, Johnnie Herbert, and Edward Henry; one daughter, Ida Marie; her parents; one sister, Louise; three brothers, Jonnie, Paul and Rudolph.

Those made sad by her passing are: one daughter, Edna Ester Oberg, of Forest Grove, Oregon; two sons, Harold and Roland, both of Farnam; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, one brother, Bernard Finder, of Ravenna, Nebr.; other relatives and a host of friends.

She will be remembered as a Christian neighbor and a thoughtful freind. Her children will revere her memory as a kindly, loving Mother, faithful in her prayers for her loved ones.

She dearly loved all little children.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 18, in the Farnam Methodist Church at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Harold O. Massie officiating.

Mrs. Ardyce Bick and Mrs. Audrey Kotschwar sang, accompanied by Mrs. Elvin Piersol.

Pallbearers were: Ralph Jurjens, Clarence Oberg, Raymond Hansen, Frank Martin, Jess Zysset and Clyde Kotschwar.

Interment was in the Stein Cemetery at Ravenna, Nebr.

McVay-Olesen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
