OBITUARY OF LEWIS LEHMAN

Lewis Lehman was born in Wurtenberg, Germany, March, 16, 1868, and passed away in the hospital at Farnam, on his birthday, March 16, 1933, at the age of 65 years.

He came to America with his parents and grandmother, when thirteen years of age. His parents settled on a farm near Rockville, Sheridan county, Nebraska.

He was united in marriage to Miss Ida Finder, September 20, 1897 at Loup City, Nebr. To this union six children were born, two girls and four boys. Three of the children preceeded him in death: Johnnie Herbert, who passed away in infance, Edward Henry, who passed away at the age of 24, and Ida Marie, who passed away at the age of 21.

He is survived by his faithful wife, two sons: Harold and Roland of Farnam, one daughter, (Edna Esther) Mrs. Fred Oberg, living in Oregon; also four half brothers and three half sisters and 11 grandchildren.

Mrs. Oberg was unable to be here for the funeral.

In 1905 Mr. Lehman moved with his family from Sheridan county to a farm southeast of Farnam, and has lived there consistently, at the home place until March 1, of this year, when ill health compelled him to leave the farm.

Mr. Lehman was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Germany at the age of thirteen. After coming to this country he was a member of the Lutheran church in Sherman county. Mr. Lehman was a Christian all of his life, and passed away in the faith without fear. His last words were “Let God have his way.”

Rev. C. R. Tanner administered the sacrament of the Lord’s supper to Mr. Lehman upon his request last Sunday and on Wednesday he called Rev. Tanner and said he would not be here much longer, and stated how he desired funeral services conducted and place of burial.

Funeral services were held at the home last Friday morning at nine o’clock, conducted by Rev. C. R. Tanner, and immediately following the service the remains were taken to Ravenna, Nebr., where a funeral service was conducted at the home of Ben Finder, one of Mrs. Lehman’s brothers. Interment was in a cemetery between Ravenna and Rockville.
