Lowell Clark Messersmith

Lowell C. Messersmith, 81, Superior, died Tuesday, November 24, 1998 in Superior.

Mr. Messersmith was born January 10, 1917 to [George Washington and Lizzie (Castor) Messersmith], in rural Gering and had lived in Superior, Grant, Farnam, Aurora, Bradshaw, and Lincoln, Nebraska; Concordia, Kansas; and Mt. Grove and Springfield, Missouri. He moved to Superior in 1985. He was a cabinet maker. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a former member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Alberta (Dixon) in 1983; a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth (York) of the home; a son, Gordon Dean of Ozark, Missouri; a daughter, Joyce June Cates of Killeen, Texas; a brother, [Charles] Lynn Messersmith of Gothenburg, Nebraska; a sister of Alta Tumbleston of Superior; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Megrue-Price Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Mark Imel officiating. Burial will be in Bostwick Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, 750 N. Commercial, Superior, Nebraska 68978.
