Obituary Collection
Former Farnamite Dies

Lincoln Star, Turner R. McNickle 52, superintendent of schools in Auburn, died in a Lincoln hospital Wednesday. He had been hospitalized earlier in the day after suffering a rupture of a heart artery.

McNickle has been superintendent in Auburn for three years. Previously he was superintendent at York for 12 years and principal four years.

Prior to going to York, he taught at Farnam, Elmwood, Fremont and Norfolk. He was a graduate of the University of Nebraska where he received his master’s degree.

Survivors include his widow, Thelma; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ainlay of Evanstan, Ill., Mrs. Mary Compton of Coffeyville, Kan., and Mrs. Maxine Jensen, Seattle, Wash., and a brother, Rodney of Seattle.

Turner was a graduate of the Farnam High School, class of 1921.
