Resident Dies
At Age of 78

Mrs. L. M. Ainlay
In Ill Health
7½ Months.


Mrs. Lillian May Ainlay, 78, of 226 E. Mishawaka Ave., following an illness of seven and one-half months, died at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gladyse Laughlin, Osceola.

Mrs. Ainlay was born in Westfield, N. Y., and came here from Farnam, Neb., in 1906. As Lillian May Rolph she married Charles Wesley Ainlay, Dec. 30, 1896 in Farnam. He died Feb. 3, 1929. Mrs. Ainlay retired in 1952 from the officd of plant 8, Stedebaker-Packard Corp., South Bend.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Laughlin, Mrs. Claytina Sperling, of Mishawaka, Mrs. Dessa Smith, of Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Jennie Longenecker, Osceola, and Mrs. Virginia Edwards, of Tuscon, Ariz.; one son, Charles W. Ainlay, of Goshen, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Jay Stebbins, of Mishawaka; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ainlay was a member of the First Methodist Church, and the Shimron Bible Class of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the church. She was a lifetime member of the sons and daughters of the Soddies, Inc., and a member of Sunlight Temple 286, Pythian Sisters.

Friends may call at the Thallemer-Goethals Chapel after 7 p.m. today and until the funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday. Rev. Robert J. Yunker, pastor of the First Methodist Church, and Rev. Phill Stephens, pastor of the Osceola Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
