Agnes Mackey

PIERRE — Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes Mackey, 87, who died Thursday at Mary House Nursing Home in Pierre, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Our Savior Episcopal Church in North Platte, Neb., with the Rev. James Krotz at liturgist. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb.

She was born Agnes May Ainlay, Sept. 15, 1898, in Farnam, Neb., to William and Kate Ainlay. She graduated from Farnam High School then worked as a telephone operator in Farnam.

On Oct. 19, 1922, she married Harold L. “Hi” Mackey in Kearney, Neb. They worked in the family business, Mackey Brothers Hereford Ranch at Eustis, Neb., until 1948.

They lived in Lincoln, Neb., and in 1958 moved to North Platte, Neb. He died in 1972. She moved to Pierre in December 1985.

She was a member of Elwood Eastern Star, Eustis Legion Auxiliary, North Platte Senior Citizens, and Our Savior Episcopal Church.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Kent and Hazel Mackey of Pierre; one brother, John Ainlay of Evanston, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements are with Fegium Hall Funeral Home of Pierre.
