CALDWELL — Services for Sylvester Hazen, 82, of 1411 Oak, Caldwell, who died Thursday in a Caldwell nursing home, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Flahiff Chapel by the Rev. David Smith of the First United Methodist Church of Caldwell.

Interment will be at Canyon Hill with graveside rites by the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 10 of Caldwell.

He was born Aug. 16, 1886, at Chicago, Ill., and the family moved to Dawson county, Neb., in 1905, and to Frontier county, Neb., a few years later where he worked as a blacksmith until 1950. He married Mary E. Wear at Stockville, Neb., on Nov. 6, 1912.

The couple moved to Caldwell in 1950 where he worked for the College of Idaho in maintenance.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Modern Woodsmen of America, and Royal Neighbors, all in Farnam, Neb.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Reefy Beery, Mrs. Edna Beery, both of Fresno, Calif.; three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers and two sisters.
