Hartley Britton Dies

Mrs. Hazel Britton and son Joe of Farnam and Clayton Britton of North Platte were at Dorchester to attend the funeral and burial on Sunday of their husband and father, Hartley Britton, who died March 8 at Ogden, Utah, at the age of 62 years.

He was a resident of this community prior to 35 years ago and is well known to many of our readers.

Hartley Clayton Britton Obituary

Hartley Clayton Britton, son of Amos and Cora Britton was born March 31, 1886 northwest of Dorchester, Nebraska. When a young man he went to Sterling, Colorado where he homesteaded.

On July 15, 1914 he was married to Hazel Tillotson of Farnam, Nebraska. Two sons were born to this union, Clayton of North Platte and Joe of Farnam, Nebraska. In later years he moved to Ogden, Utah where he passed away on March 8, 1949 at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 8 days. He is survived by his wife, his two sons, two grandsons, two brothers, Joel of Texas Creek, Colorado and Edward of Sterling, Colorado, and two sisters, Mary Axline and Sarah Jarrett of Dorchester, Nebraska.

Pallbearers were John Box, Art Johnson, Vern Rose, Frank Parks, Arlo Beggs and Harry Schnert.

Funeral services were held at Volland Mortuary Sunday afternoon.

Those attending from a distance were3 Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Britton and Ross Dillen of Sterling, Colorado, Clayton Britton, North Platte, Mrs. Hazel Britton and Joe Britton of Farnam, Corp. Delbert Franze, Mrs. Franzen and family of Arkansas.
