Mrs. Mabel G. Rice, 71, of 498 Tejon Drive, who died at 4 a.m. Saturday Jan. 10 at Mesa Manor Nursing Center after a years’ illness, had been a resident of Grand Junction for two and a half years.

Born Aug. 27, 1904 at Hutchinson, Ka., Mrs. Rice spent her childhood at Hutchinson and attended high school there. She married Dean Rice in 1925 at Hutchinson. Mr. Rice was a farm equipment dealer who died in 1955 in Hood River, Ore.

Before moving to Grand Junction, Mrs. Rice lived in Farnam, Neb., for 25 years and in Denver for 18 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Farnstrom, of Gothenburg, Neb., and Carol Hertel of Forest Grove, Ore.; a son, Dale L. Rice of Grand Junction; one sister, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services will be in Hutchinson.
