Heber Stewart Boyle

Heber S. Boyle was born in Bloomington, Illinois, January 23, 1862, and passed away at his home in Gothenburg, February 24, 1948, at the age of eighty-eight years, one month and one day.

His father, John Boyle, passed away when he was a small boy. In 1883, with his mother, Mary Jane Boyle, and brothers, Albert and George, he came to Doniphan, Nebraska. In 1884, Heber and his brothers took claims 12 miles south of Farnam and moved to them in 1885.

There they lived until 1905, when Heber and George moved to Farnam, their mother having passed on.

On December 18, 1918, he was married to Stella C. Franklin of Griswold, Iowa. [he was 56 yrs old]. To this union were born four children: Maxine Hill of Gothenburg, Harold E. Boyle of San Diego, CA, George J and Dale F., of Gothenburg.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two sisters, Jennie and Rachel, and two brothers, Albert and George, and leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, one daughter, three sons, four grandchlldren, nine nephews, three nieces, and a host of friends.

When a young man, he united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Farnam as a charter member. As long as health would permit he was active in all church work.

Funeral services were held in Farnam Saturday February 28, at 2 pm at the Methodist church, Rev. Tanner of Elwood officiating with Rev E. Fern McCaig assisting. Burial was in Farnam cemetery. The Chester L. Hugo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Boyle, San Diego, CA; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Boyle and Ruth of Sidney; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Boyle of Kimball, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Boyle of Powell, Wyo; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Fox, Elliot, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lou Necland of Hemingford; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Scrutchfield of Cozad; and Stewart Rice of Scottsbluff.
