Glenice Lorraine (Gaibler) Discoe

McCOOK, Neb. - Glenice Lorraine (Gaibler) Discoe, of McCook, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at the Independence Houses/Mandarin in Lincoln, Neb. early Sun. morning June 18, 2023. She was 89 years old.
Glenice was born to Gladys (Velte) and Fred Gaibler on May 16, 1934 in Farnam, Neb. She graduated from Farnam High School in 1952 and married Kenny Discoe of Gothenburg, Neb. on Sep. 21, 1952.
The couple was blessed with four children: Barbara Ann, Connie Jo, Tony Alan and Cindy Lou. In June 1966, the family moved from Alliance to McCook where Kenny was a brand inspector for the Nebraska Brand Committee.
Glenice belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Church Circle and the Memorial United Methodist Church of McCook, and the Better Halves Extension Club, Red Willow County.
She worked at Wheelers/Country General and at the sale ring at the North Sale Barn in McCook. She volunteered for many years at the Helping Hands Thrift Shop in downtown McCook. She enjoyed sewing and working with wood. She particularly enjoyed her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband Kenny on Sep. 15, 2009.
Survivors include her children: Barbara Jauken of Lincoln, Connie Jo Discoe of McCook, Tony Discoe of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Cindy Fritsche and her husband, Mark of Maywood, Neb.; her grandchildren: Shannon and husband, Craig Bird of Hansen, Neb., Nolan Brown and wife, Courtney of McCook, Bethany Jauken of Lincoln, Whitney Jauken of Lincoln, Jacob Discoe of Carlsbad, Cal., Justin Discoe and wife, Sydney of Lehi, Utah, Lydia Fritsche of Omaha, Neb. and Von Fritsche and fiancé, Nicole of Gretna, Neb.; three sisters, Phyllis Hastings of North Platte, Neb., Janice Crewdson of Lincoln, and Yvonne Shannon of San Joaquin, Costa Rica; one brother, Dennis Gaibler and wife, Phyllis of Lincoln; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Cremation was chosen and memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sat., June 24, 2023 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Dale Heimer and Johnny Walker providing words of comfort. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the family of Glenice Discoe for future designation.
