Mrs. Sadie Hall of Pinedale, Wyoming passed away in late December. She was 94 years old. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Shaw were early pioneers in this locality. Sadie taught school in early days when they were held in private homes.

Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Hall moved to Wyoming many years ago. He preceded her in death.

Well Known and Loved Pioneer Passed Away Here

Sadie Shaw Hall, a resident of the Pinedale, Wyoming, area since 1900, passed away Wednesday morning, December 23, at a hospital in Rock Springs after a long illness. Sadie Shaw was born in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, May 24, 1870 and was married to Harry Hall at Farnam, Nebraska, December 6, 1893. They lived in Nebraska for seven years and had five years of drought out of the seven so started looking for a place where there was water and trees. Some hunters who had been in this area told them about the country so they loaded up two wagons and Mr. Hall followed the old Oregon trail to Pinedale in 1900, taking 30 days to make the trip. Mrs. Hall traveled to Opal by train and arrived at Pole Creek November 3 in a raging snowstorm. They filed on land at Pole Creek in 1901 and owned the property until 1944. Mrs. Hall was probably the first woman to travel extensively through the Wind River Mountains. This she did with her husband who was a forest service official. Mrs. Hall was very active in all organizations of the area and was loved by all her knew her, especially the children. Her mind was clear right up until her death and she loved to tell of her first aeroplane ride in 1945, and the fact that she loved to ride in planes. She also was very familiar with and loved horses and pack outfits. She will be sadly missed by the many who knew her and worked with her through all the years she has been in this country.
