Thelma P. Carpenter
Thelma P. Carpenter, 72, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at her home in McCook. Thelma was born on Nov. 21, 1937, in Farnam to Gerald James and Nellie Lucett (Wear) Halley.
She graduated from Republican Valley High School. On July 12, 1957, she was united in marriage to Rodney Eugene Carpenter in McCook. To this union two sons, Roderick and Russell, were born. Thelma was a busy mother. She also worked at St. Catherine's Hospital, Larry's Café and the Eagle's Club.
Thelma loved to sew, collect antiques and bells, and go to garage sales. She grew a large garden, canning much of it and delighted in giving it away. She and Rodney enjoyed traveling and camping in their Winnebago.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Gerald James and Nellie Lucett Halley.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Rodney Carpenter of McCook; sons, Roderick Carpenter and wife, Jada of Indianola, and Russell Carpenter and wife, Tracy of McCook; grandchildren, Roxanne, Keaton, Dakota and Shianne; one brother, Marvin Halley and wife, Beverly of Farnam; two sisters, Peggy Halley of Cambridge and Ellen Perkins of Seymour, Tennesee; special friend, Gail Godfrey of Indianola; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
