Estel M. Wear, 79, died at his home on Saturday, March 7th, 2015 in Hastings, Nebraska. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

Born and raised in Farnam, Nebraska, January 29th, 1936, to Carl and Mae Wear. He was the oldest of five.

Estel attended Farnam school until his graduation in 1954. While in school his senior year he was involved in football, basketball and yearbook staff.

After high school, Estel took up truck driving with many trucking companies, then went to work at Mann Hay Company until his retirement in 2001. While at Mann Hay he was the lead Swather/Grinder operator. Even after his retirement, Estel just couldn’t stay away from working. It was nothing to see Estel out tinkering around on machines, trucks and cars.

Estel really enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was camping, fishing, hunting or just sitting watching a ball game (mostly Husker games). He was an avid Nebraska Husker fan, loved watching his football games, reading, drawing, light mechanics, watching his western movies along with the news and weather. You could count on him for an up-to-date weather report.

He is survived by his kids, Milton (Sheila Massie) of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Marlin (Marlena) of Overton, Nebraska; Mike Wear of Gothenburg, Estel Jr. (Lori Strangefield) of Hastings, Nebraska; Kimberly Wear of Ellsworth, Kansas. His grandchildren include Alex Wear, Kara (Brandon) Olsen, Shay Wear, Kyle Johnson, Jovi Wear, Hannah Wear, Shania and Nikita Wear. One great-grandchild, Decklynn Wear and one unborn. A brother, Larry Wear (special friend Carol Petree) of Farnam and one sister, Lynda (Sam) Smith of Sharonville, Nebraska; lots of nephews and nieces and his dog, Trixie.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Carl and Mae Wear; a brother, Darrell; sister, Ava Arlene; brother-in-law, Dave Lorow and a grandson, Jeffery, son of Marlin.

There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, March 15th, 2015, at the home of Marlin Wear in Overton.
