Charles Cecil Clement
Charles C. Clement, 83, of Farnam, Nebraska, formerly of Humboldt, died Thursday, September 13, 1979 at the Veterans Home in Lincoln, Nebraska. His death was due to a heart condition.He had been ill since July 11th, when he was admitted to Veterans Hospital. He was at home for a short time and then returned to the hospital.
He was born October 28, 1895 at Farnam, a son of the late William H. and Sarah Louisa (Furrow) Clement. He enlisted in the Army during World War 1 in June of 1918 at North Platte. He was sent to Camp Funston, Kansas and was a member of the 69th Infantry, Tenth Division.
During his time of service in the Army, his parents moved to Table Rock, Nebraska and when he was discharged, he returned to Table Rock.
December 29, 1920, he was married to Golda Maud Hays at the Christian Church parsonage at Table Rock. She died December 12, 1971.
July 3, 1973, he was married to Mrs. Clara Wyckoff of Farnam at the Nazarene Church.
He engaged in farming and for fourteen years worked as a mechanic in Humboldt.
He was a member of the Church of Christ for many years and a 50 year member of Harvey Mann American Legion Post No. 269 of Humboldt.
He survived by his wife, Clara; a son, Gordon Clement of Table Rock; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ray Grabenstein, Eustis; seven grandchildren, Gregg, Mikel and Maria Clement, Jan Gengenbach, Bob Grabenstein, Dan Wyckoff, Jr., and Virginia Gilbert, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Golda, an infant son, Marvin Jr., a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Clement, a grandson, Grand Clement, his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Clement were held September 16, 1979 at the Church of Christ in Table Rock, with Rev. Ward Merritt officiating. Frank Petrashek sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art".
Serving as pallbearers were Duane Workman, John Burgett, Paul Burgett, Joe Sochor, Rudy Fritch, Jr., and Harlan Findlay.
Marv Hayes, Rodney Merwin, John Glathar, John Cooper, Larry Weyers, Walter Hunzeker, Dick Arington, Emil Horalek, Jr., Church Jaros, Weldon Dettman, Jerry Mayer, Larry Richardson, Fred Humm of Humboldt's Harvey Mann Post No. 269 were members of the funeral detail.
Interment was in the Table Rock Cemetery.
