Margaret (McNickle) Ainlay
Margaret (McNickle) Ainlay was born August 25, 1908 at Farnam and passed away October 1, 1983 in Glenview, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lula and Harry McNickle and two brothers, Turner and Rodney.
Mrs. Ainlay, a former teacher, began teaching in a one-room county school near her birthplace of Farnam, after completing the required normal school training at age sixteen.
Interested in genealogy, she worked for four and a half years compiling the history of the Ainlay family. "I believe she found every Ainlay on the North American continent," her husband said.
In addition to her husband John, returned director of the Chicago regional office of the American Petroleum Institute, she is survived a a son, Duane of Prospect Heights, Illinois; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mary Crompton of Coffeeville, Kansas and Maxine Richards of San Francisco, California.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 5th in the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Evanston, Illinois. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
