70 Year Old Woman Killed In Accident
In the year’s second fatality Mrs. Ollie Josephine Clement, 70, died soon after being hit by a car driven by Loreto L. Abasolo, 32, of 820 E. 11th, at 7 p. m., last night, in front of her home.
Mrs. Clement, who lived alone at 1104 W. 10th, died five minutes after being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
Abasolo was not held. According to the report field by Police Officer Ralph Schnelle, "(Abasolo’s) car was going west on 10th. The sunlight at that time was very intense and visibility was poor. The victim was crossing 10th going northwest, diagonally and about midway in the block.
"There were brakemarks for a distance of 30’6" to the point of impact. The driver swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the collision. The distance from the point of impact to the position of the body measured 39’9" . . . Mrs. Clement suffered head lacerations, a skull fracture, a double fracture of the right leg and a fracture of the left leg, plus internal injuries. Dr. O. C. Kreymborg was the attending physician.
According to Officer Schnelle she was conscious after being hit, though in considerable pain.
County Attorney J. G. McIntosh will hold a hearing this afternoon to determine whether an inquest will be necessary.
Mrs. Clement was born Sept. 3, 1881 in Springfield, Illinois. She has been a resident of the North Platte and Wellfleet community for the past 50 years. She is the widow of Elmer S. Clement, who passed away in 1938.
She is survived by a niece, Mrs. L. A. Wayman, and a nephew, B. A. Darrah, both of North Platte.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p. m. Saturday at the Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with the Rev. E. Phil Dubbs, pastor of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Mrs. Clement Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Ollie Josephine Clement, 70, were held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the Adams-Swanson Funeral Home. Mrs. Clement, the year’s second traffic fatality in North Platte, was hit by a car Wednesday evening in front of her home at 1104 West 10th.
The Rev. E. Phil Dubbs, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiated. Organ music was by Mrs. J. B. Eaves, who played "God Will Take Care of You," and "In the Garden."
Pallbearers were E. E. Carr, Carl Cooper, Fred Howe, Louis Larson, Elmer Goltry and Wylie Grandy.
Burial was in the North Platte cemetery.
