Jay F. Wigton
In this city on Monday, May 27, 1907, at the home of Judge Turton, Mr. Jay F. Wigton, aged 34 years, 8 months and 14 days.
This was a very sad death. Mention was made in last weeks Pioneer of the serious illness of the deceased. He never recovered his reason. His sisters Mrs. Turton and miss Wigton, were constantly at his bedside. His physician made a number of visits daily, but all of no avail. It has been discovered that he had a severe bruise on the back of his head, which his attendant at Farnam says was caused by his springing up in his bed, and falling backward striking his head on the iron rail. He was the only brother of four sisters, to-wit: Mrs. Turton of this city; Mrs. L.E. Vroman of Plattsmouth; Mrs. E.E. Hurst of Webster City, Iowa; and Miss Mae Wigton of Lake View, Iowa. Mrs. Vroman just arrived just before his death.
Funeral services were held at the residence of Judge Turton, Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. Geo. F. Trites. The remains were shipped to Lake View, Iowa and were laid to rest in the family lot of the cemetery of that place. Mrs. Turton and Miss Wigton accompanied the body.
