Mildred J. Welch, 89, died Aug. 21, 1998, at Sunset Haven Home in Curtis.

She was born Feb. 21, 1909, at Gibbon to George and Mary Morris Spencer. She was a graduate of Gibbon High School and a two-year graduate of Kearney State Teachers College. She taught school in Moorefield, Gibbon and Farnam for 23 years.

In June 1932, she married Robert L. Welch. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1983.

Mrs. Welch lived in North Platte from 1972 to 1996. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 189 and the Presbyterian Church, both of Gibbon.

Surviving her is a daughter, Ruth (Ken) Pedersen of North Platte; two sons, Leland Douglas (Terry) of Curtis and Donald Roy (Pat) of Alliance; 12 grandchildren, Bradley, Donnie, Dawson and Amy Welch of Curtis, Robert, Steve, Randy, Jordon and Jana Welch of Alliance and Brenda, David and Troy Pedersen of North Platte; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Smith of Gibbon.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Berean Bible Church in Curtis with Pastor Steve Demoret officiating. Burial will be in the Moorefield Cemetery.
