Kacy M. Taylor and Keegan W. Taylor

KEARNEY - Kacy M. Taylor, 28, and her son, Keegan W. Taylor, 7, both of Kearney, died Nov. 2, 2005, at their home as the result of a house fire.

Kacy was born Sept. 21, 1977, in Gothenburg, to Larry D. and Connie J. Fritz Taylor. She was a 1995 graduate of Farnam High School. She attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney for two years and went on to graduate with honors from Central Community College of Nursing in Kearney. She was a nurse for Dr. Ron Scott at Kearney Clinic. She was a member of the church. Her pastimes included playing softball, volleyball and time spent with her family.

Survivors include her parents of Moorefield; sisters, Kim (Brent) Nelson of Kearney, Kerri Taylor (special friend, Brian Fuertges) of Hays, Kan., and Kristi Taylor of Potomac Falls, Va.; grandmother, Jean Fritz of North Platte; and a niece, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marvin and Muriel Taylor and Earl Fritz, and a cousin, Jeremy Fritz.

Keegan was born July 27, 1998, in Kearney to Kacy Taylor. He was a second-grader at Bryant Elementary School in Kearney. He was a member of the church and enjoyed playing football, baseball and spending time with his family. He is survived by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney with the Revs. Dr. Marvin Koelling and Matt Fowler officiating. Interment will be in the Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service time at the church. O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home of Kearney.
