Earl M. Tabor

Earl Tabor, 82 of Farnam, Nebraska, died May 13th, 2009, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.

He was born April 5th, 1927, at Gibbon, Nebraska, to James and Sadie (Stearley) Tabor. He attended several schools throughout Nebraska before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1945; where he served in WWII. On May 4th, 1949, he married Elsie Bissel; the couple moved to Hastings, Nebraska, and later Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1970, Earl moved to Cozad where he worked at the hay mills. In 1975, he began work as a custodian for the Cozad High School, and later, Pershing Elementary School. Mrs. Tabor preceded him in death in 1986. On April 9th, 1998, Earl married Audrey Cumpston at Holdrege, Nebraska; the couple made their home in Cozad. In 2001, the couple moved to Farnam.

In addition to his first wife, Earl was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Tabor of Farnam; two sons, Marvin (Sandy) Tabor and Richard (Charlotte) Tabor all of Douglas, Wyoming; two daughters, Sandra (Patrick) Glenn and Dianna (Paul) Linnemeyer all of Farnam; two step-sons, Matt (Kim) Howell of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Pat Howell of Cozad; two brothers, Harold (Lucille) Tabor of Nampa, Idaho, Orn Tabor of Sutherland, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He loved woodworking, bird watching, fishing, camping and gardening. He especially loved music and playing various instruments.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 18th, 2009, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating. Burial was in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
