Marinette "Mik" Stickelman

Marinette "Mik" Stickelman, 93, died on Sept. 23, 2009, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.

Mik was born to John E. and Annie Bellstrom Joneson on Jan. 3, 1916, in Manderson, Wyo.

She lived in Gothenburg all her life and was a graduate of Gothenburg High School in 1933. She taught country school near Farnam. She later traveled to Chicago to receive her Nursing Degree and then worked for Dr. Stevenson.

She was a lifelong member of the Gothenburg First Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher and Choir Director.

On Oct. 19, 1936, she married Roy E. Stickelman, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Mik will be remembered for her lovely porcelain dolls and the many hours spent in helping others create their own.

In 1995 Mik was awarded Outstanding Citizen by the Gothenburg Chamber of Commerce. She was also an "Honorary Pony Express Rider" for the year of 1995.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon Joneson of Cozad, Wallace Joneson of Florida; two sisters, Alyce Williams, Gretchen Kerr of Gothenburg; and a grandson, Courtney Stickelman.

Survivors include a son, Brad (Janine) Stickelman; their son, Corby (Sherry); their sons, Barrett and Decker; a daughter, Sherril Whitaker; her daughter, Stacey Basham; and nieces and nephews and their families.

Services will be at the Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bill Ivey officiating on Monday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or donor's choice.
