Margaret P. Stewart
CURTIS — Margaret P. Stewart, 94, of Curtis died July 28, 2003, at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis.
She was born Dec. 7, 1908, to Lester C. and Cora M. Gilson Kitchen on a farm east of Farnam. She graduated from Overton High School in 1926 and went on to Kearney State College for 2 years.
On April 19, 1947, she married George R. Stewart at Curtis. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1997. She started working at the Curtis State Bank in 1929, where she worked for 45 years, retiring in 1974. They enjoyed flying their own plane for many years after their retirement. They both became avid fishermen and bridge players, and reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Stewart was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Curtis and the American Legion Auxiliary. She resided at Hillside Estates in Curtis the past two years.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Grannis of Curtis; and several nieces and nephews, including, Gary (Verna) Larsen of Johnson Lake; two great nieces, Pamela (Shane) Cudaback and family of Kearney, Kelli Larsen of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was also preceded in death by parents and her husband.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church Choir or the Hillside Estates Medical Alert Fund of Curtis.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Curtis with the Rev. Rick Sykes officiating. Burial will be in the Curtis Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.
