Obituary Collection
Faunda Verl Stevenson

Faunda Verl, second son of Fred S. Stevenson and Bessie Lydic Stevenson, was born Nov. 26, 1908, near Farnam, Nebraska, and died Monday at 8:30 a.m., March 19, 1934, in the Grace Hospital, Hutchinson, Kansas, aged 25 years, 3 months, and 23 days.

He leaves to mourn his early departure, his faithful and devoted wife, Rhea Esther, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Banz and family, his father and mother, two brothers, Vivian Fay and Loyola Meade, three sisters, Freda Grete, Zona Gale and Iola Fern, five uncles and four aunts, two great-uncles and two great aunts, numerous cousins and a host of dear friends.

Verl grew to manhood on a farm near Farnam.

He was saved and sanctified in the autumn of 1925. Soon afterward he was called to God to be a preacher of the Gospel. He united with the Nazarene Church in 1925. In September, 1928, he entered Bresee College at Huchinson, Kansas, and graduated from the Theological Department, June, 1933.

On June 9, 1931, he was united in marriage to Miss Rhea Esther Banz, who is also a theological graduate of Bresee Collage. He was a faithful and loving husband.

His death was the result of blood poisoning caused by an injury to his leg when he fell from his bicycle during the icy weather on February 26. Special prayer was held for his recovery and the very best medical care was given him, but it pleased the Lord to take him home.

On Saturday, when told he could not live, he said he did not think he would die because he was called to preach, but that he was ready to go. On Sunday, he told his wife several times that he was the Lord's boy and whatever He wanted was all right.

He seemed eager to depart and be with Jesus.

The funeral services were held at the First Church of the Nazarene, at two o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, March 21, 1934. His pastor, Rev. M. G. Jobe, was in charge.
