Dale E. Russell
Dale E. Russell, 65, prominent Ogallala businessman, died Sunday (July 30, 1989) at a Denver hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Farnam and was a 1941 graduate of Farnam High School. He married Ruth E. Sheffield on Jan. 25, 1943.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served from 1942 until 1945 in the South Pacific.
After his discharge, he moved to Eustis where he had a locker and meat processing plant until 1953 when he moved to Ogallala and opened Dale's Locker, which he owned and operated until his death.
While in Eustis, he was a charter member and first president of the Eustis Lions Club; a lifetime member of the VFW; a member of the American Legion; past master and member of Ogallala Masonic Lodge No. 159 AF & AM; and past worshipful master and past worthy patron of Ogallala Eastern Star no. 142. Mr. Russell was associate guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel No. 21; a member and past president of Big Mac Shrine Club; a member of Tehama Shrine Temple of Hastings; past chairman of the Shrine Circus committee; past president of Nebraska Meat Processors Association; a member and served on the agriculture committee for the Chamber of Commerce; and was an active member in the United Methodist Church, serving in numerous capacities.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Ogallala; two daughters, Dianne (Mrs. Chuck) Knaub of Hershey and Cheryl (Mrs. Bernard) Beckius of Ogallala; a sister, Helen (Mrs. Thomas) May of North Platte; a brother, Joy and Beulah of Farnam; and six grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Burgess officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
A memorial has been established.
Draucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
