Myrtle M. Rogers

GOTHENBURG — Myrtle M. Rogers, 89, of Gothenburg, formerly of Farnam, died Oct. 13, 2003, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.

She was born July 2, 1914, in Frontier County, to Frederick W. and Grace Stombaugh Volkman. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1931.

On Aug. 16, 1932, she married Harvey "Paul" Rogers at Oberlin, Kan. They lived south of Orafino until the late 1940s before moving to Eustis until 1960. They moved into Cambridge for three years before moving to Farnam until April 2000, when she moved to Long Term Care at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Rogers worked at the Eustis News and later the Cambridge Courier. She also was the librarian in Eustis and was librarian in Farnam for several years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and visiting with all her relatives and special friends. Survivors include a niece, Patricia Thompson (special friend, Gary Hedke) of Cambridge; three nephews, Darrel (Lucile) Banzhaf of McCook, Dwain (Elna) Banzhaf of Eustis and Harold (Charlene) Banzhaf of Indianola; 17 great-nieces and nephews; numerous great-great-nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Rogers of Gothenburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul on Jan. 23, 1996; her parents; a sister, Velma Banzhaf; a brother-in-law, Paul Banzhaf; and two great-nieces, Crystal Braaten and Linda Banzhaf.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Nazarene Church in Farnam with the Rev. Danny Strange officiating. Burial will be in the Eustis West Cemetery in Eustis.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.
