GOD'S OWN HARVESTIME
We come today to give our thanks, For a dad so faithful and true,
No matter whatever the problem, He was always there for me and you.
Whenever we were children, He would heed our plaintive plea,
"My legs are getting tired, Daddy, please carry me."
Many were the trips to school, Through ice and rain and snow,
Sometimes the team and wagon, Were the only way that we could go.
Dad's pace would always quicken, When harvestime was the reason,
It was necessary to gather crops, Whenever it was the right season.
So it is with our lives, A seed is planted and it grows,
Where your life journey will take you, None of us ever knows.
Like the green plant which was young, Then ripens to harvest brown,
Our lives begin to come full circle, As our daily pace slows down.
There is a feeling of gratitude, As a lifetime comes to a close,
For God's great unwavering love, Ever there thru life's highs and lows.
And as the seeds are replanted, A part of us goes down the line,
To grow and then to be gathered, In God's own harvestime.
