Margaret (Titchen) Power
Margaret A. Power, longtime resident of North Platte, and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, died at Great Plains Regional Medical Center Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, in North Platte.
Margaret was born in Farnam June 6, 1915, to Martin and Antje (Annie Folkers) Titchen. She married Edward John "Ted" Power on March 9, 1933, in Lexington.
Margaret recently auctioned her home of 60 years along with its treasures: Her father's 1850s steamer trunk, her spurs/saddlebags used riding her horse to school, china from her great-grandparents the Folkers, a Union Pacific pocket watch commemorating the Golden Spike in Salt Lake, and the table used for harvest meals at her parents' homestead in Farnam.
She was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2839, a member of numerous organizations including the Guppies swim group of which she was very fond, and she was an avid card player. She fished, gardened, enjoyed poetry and had a witty sense of humor.
Surviving her are daughters, Lois (Gerald) Kelly of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Geraldine (Charles) Beer and Sandra Power, both of Denver; a son, Michael of North Platte; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, LaVeta Fletcher.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; sons, Kenneth and Ronald; daughter, Patricia (Ronald) Swanson; and grandchildren, Ronda and Timothy Swanson and Anthony Kelly.
A memorial has been established to the City of North Platte/Donation Fund for the Cody Park Rides. Condolences may be shared online at www.adamsswanson.com.
