Ruth Y. Pedersen, 55, of North Platte died May 8, 2003, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

She was born Oct. 5, 1947, in North Platte to Robert Leland and Mildred Josephine Spencer Welch. She attended school in Farnam and graduated in 1965.

On Sept. 6, 1964, she married Kenneth Lee Pedersen in Farnam. They moved to North Platte in 1971 where she continued her education at Mid Plains Community College and received her License Practice Nurse in 1976, and surgical technician in 1984. She worked at Great Plains Regional Medical Center for 22 years and was presently employed at the North Platte Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic for five years. Mrs. Pedersen’s hobbies were the love of teddy bears, sewing, stock car races, camping, oil painting, and she loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Ken of North Platte; a daughter, Brenda (Jim) Clair; two sons, David Sr. (Stacy) Pedersen and Troy (Doreen) Pedersen, all of Maxwell; two brothers, Douglas Leland (Terry) Welch of Curtis, Donald Roy (Pat) Welch of Alliance; an aunt, Ruth Smith of Kearney; eight grandchildren, Brandy, Heather, Rochelle, David Jr., Matthew, Brodie, Crystal, and Trey; a great-granddaughter, Jocelynn; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, Chris and Mitzy Hayes.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Allen of the First Baptist Church in Maxwell officiating. Burial will be at the Moorefield Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.
