GOTHENBURG - Hannah G. Meester, 94, of Gothenburg died April 4, 2006, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 12, 1912, to Folkert and Ellen Jurgens Johanning at Gothenburg. Hannah grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools. She did housekeeping and childcare for various families in the area.

On Nov. 3, 1935, she was united in marriage to Walter J. Meester in Gothenburg. They lived in the Farnam and Gothenburg areas before moving into Gothenburg in 1947. Walt died in 1963. Hannah continued to make her home in Gothenburg and worked at Paskawitz Nursing Home. Later she worked as a nurse's aide at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital until the age of 75. Hannah then worked for Parkview Villa until the age of 87.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Ed) Claflin of Gothenburg and Bonnie (Cliff) Wedemeyer of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a daughter-in-law, Linda Meester of Cozad; two sons, Ron Meester of Gothenburg and Robert (Priscilla) Meester of Lexington; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Larry on March 17, 2006, and one in infancy; a daughter in infancy; a great-grandson; and a sister.

Memorials may be given to the family or the Gothenburg Rescue Squad.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2006, at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg with Lonna Grabenstein, Parish Ministry Associate, and the Rev. Matt Coplen officiating. Burial will be in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.
