Francis Rupert McNickle

Francis Rupert McNickle fifth son of Dan and Grace Wood McNickle, was born at Farnam, Nebraska, Nov. 18, 1912, and died at his home in Sheridan, Wyoming, July 16, 1954. Francis and Marion Golay were married on June 22, 1936. To this union two children were born, Penny and Mickey. The family were all members of St. Peters Episcopal church in Sheridan, where they have lived for ten years. He leaves to mourn his passing , his immediate family, his father and two brothers, Max and Clark of Farnam, two sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Cross of Denver, Colorado and Mrs. Kathleen Meyers of Ojo Caliente, New Mexico, three brothers, Arthur of Tacoma, Washington, James of Littleton, Colorado and Ralph of Gordon, with their families. The members of the family who preceded him in death were his mother, two brothers, Dell and Maynard and his youngest sister, Phyllis Allred. He was a devoted husband and father, a kind and thoughtful son and brother, always belittling his own sorrows and disappointments and mindful of the troubles of others.

The funeral was held in St. Peters Episcopal Church on Monday, July 19, with Rev. Ray Clark, its pastor, in charge. Pallbearers were chosen from among the men with whom he worked at CAA and weather bureau organizations and burial was in the Sheridan cemetery on a hillside looked toward the snow coffed Big Horn Mountains which he had learned to love so well.

McNickle Services to be Held Monday

Funeral services will be conducted Monday from St. Peter’s Episcopal church for Francis R. McNickle, Civil Aeronautics administration employee who died Friday morning at his home at 1205 Victoria after a long illness.

The services will be at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Raymond H. Clark officiating and burial will be in the Sheridan municipal cemetery. Champion’s funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McNickle was born Nov. 18, 1912, in Farnam, Neb. He was employed by the CAA as a radio operator and had been stationed at Sheridan for the past 10 years. Writing, hunting and fishing were his hobbies. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal church.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; a daughter, Penny, and son, Mickey; his father, Dan McNickle of Farnam; five brothers, Arthur McNickel, Tacoma, Wash., Max and Clark McNickle, Farnam; Ralph McNickle of Gordon, Neb., and James of Littleton, Neb., and two sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Cross, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Kathyleen Meyers, Ojo Caliente, New Mexico.
