Rev. Samuel McKeown
Word has been received of the death of Rev. Samuel McKeown at his home at 512 Lisbon Ave., Buffalo, N. Y., June 17, 1957.
Rev. McKeown, born November 3, 1876, was a missionary in Africa, during his early years in the ministry. It was during this time that he met Violet Mae Gendrow, a young missionary. After their marriage they later served the Overton Methodist church for several years, and the remainder of his active years were spent in serving as minister of Nebraska churches, and his last work was serving as Chaplain at the State Penitentiary, at which time they resided at their own home in Lincoln.
Besides his beloved wife, he was survived by his daughter, Esther; four sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held in Buffalo. The Rev. Raymond E. Risden of University Methodist church officiating.
Burial was at the Elmlawn cemetery.
Rev. McKeown's name and the date of his death were given In Memoriam by the First Methodist church in Lincoln on Sunday, June 23.
