Clyde McElmoil

Clyde McElmoil, son of James H. and Mary Ellen McElmoil, was born July 4, 1880, near Elkhart, Ind. and passed away at his home in Sacremento, Calif., May 17, 1960 at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 13 days.

When 4 years of age his parents came to Juniata, Nebraska where he grew to manhood. Graduating from High School in 1899. He attended the University of Nebraska and became a registered Pharmacist in 1905.

He was united in marriage to Mable Decker of Callaway, October 30, 1907. To this union a daughter was born August 9, 1909 (who died at birth) and a son Gordon D. born December 25, 1912. Mrs. McElmoil preceeded him in death July 3, 1921.

He was united in marriage to Edith F. Hall September 11, 1923.

Mr. McElmoil was engaged in pharmacy for almost 50 years, of which 40 years were spent in his store in Farnam. He retired March 1, 1943 and settled in California, first in Long Beach then in San Jose, where he took up real estate and was active for 3 years when his health began to fail, retiring in February 1957.

In September 1959, he moved to Sacramento to be near Mrs. McElmoil's niece and her husband, L. C. Hays.

In December his son, Gordon, was called home from Germany to be near him. After 2 weeks in the hospital he was taken home where he was confined to his bed most of the time.

He was a patient sufferer and everything was done for his comfort. He passed away peacefully at 1:45 a.m. May 17, 1960.

His wife, Edith, has been his constant companion during all his illness and her loss is deeply felt.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, who will be greatly missed.

He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife and loving son, one sister, Eva C. Scott of Long Beach, California.

Funeral services were conducted in the Sacramento Memorial Garden Chapel where he was entombed in the Mausoleum May 19, 1960.
