James J. McDermott
The community was brought to sadness for the third time in the
past ten days, Monday, when word was received that James “Jim”
McDermott had passed away at a hospital in Omaha after a
lingering illness of several months.
Jim was taken sick last spring and never recovered from this
attack, which caused his death, being a complication of
diseases.
Mr. McDermott came here about 20 years ago and has since made
his home in Farnam and community since that time. Jim was a
member of the local section crew up until he was taken sick and
was the oldest man on the Sterling division in his class. Jim
was a very pleasant fellow and had many friends.
The body was brought here Tuesday and funeral services were held
Wednesday morning from St. Joseph’s Catholic church, of which he
was a member. Services were conducted by Rev. Joseph Maichler
and interment made in the Catholic cemetery west of town.
