Miles Kent Martin
Miles Kent Martin, 60, of Maywood died Jan. 12, 2002, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
He was born Nov. 29, 1941, on the family farm south of Farnam to Miles Frank and Vivian Glee Bennett Martin. He grew up on the farm and attended Farnam schools through the 11th grade. He graduated from Maywood High School in 1959. He started driving trucks for National Alfalfa at Ord, where he worked for several years. He then moved to Lexington and drove for Platte Valley Products. He later moved to Maywood and drove for Cargill at McCook. For the last 20 years, he had owned and operated his own truck hauling grain.
Mr. Martin enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, collecting antiques and spending time with his family, friends and morning coffee group. He had been a member of a Gold Wing Association and had ridden his motorcycle to Sturgis, S.D., several times.
Survivors include a daughter, Marla (Bryan) Seamann of North Platte; a brother, Terry Martin of Fremont; and two grandchildren, Daniel (Stephanie) and Jennifer Seamann, all of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte, with the Rev. Martin Leeper of the Maywood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens at North Platte.
