Garland M. (Evarts) Lewis

Garland M. Lewis, 88, former longtime resident of Eustis, died Oct. 19, 1993, at the Cozad hospital.

She was born May 1, 1905, at Ingham to Thomas and Rosa Reed Evarts and was raised on a farm northwest of Farnam, attending rural school. On Jan. 13, 1927, she married Lester Lewis. They farmed south of Eustis before moving into Eustis in 1943.

Mrs. Lewis was employed at a creamery and later as a bookkeeper.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth (Mary) of Craig, Donald (Barbara) of Exeter and Ronald (Mary) of Eustis; three daughters, Zelta Barton of Walla Walla, Wash., Neva Jones of Goodland, Kan., and Vera (Richard) Cooper of Oregon; 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1962; two sisters, Lucille Putnam and Katie Clark; a stepsister; and two grandsons.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark L. Schutt officiating. Burial will be in the East Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the Berryman Funeral Home in Eustis, which is in charge of arrangements.
