Robert Kruse

Robert Royal Kruse, 93, of Brady, formerly of Farnam, Nebraska, died January 19, 2015 in at his daughter's home.

Robert was born July 1, 1921 at Gothenburg, NE to John and Wilbke (Franzen) Kruse. He graduated from Gothenburg High School. He was confirmed in 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Duis. Robert served his country in the US Army 23 Infantry from August 1942-December 1945 serving in England, Germany, and France. Earning a Bronze Star, Oak Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Battle Stars, (Ardennes Rhineland, Central Europe) and Carbine Marksman. He graduated from Aviation School in 1943.

On August 20, 1950, he married Ruth Schrodt at Cromwell, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm site north of Farnam, Nebraska. In 1962, they moved to the present home site north of Cozad. During his lifetime, he worked with his wife, farming and raising cattle. He especially enjoyed going to the senior dances. He enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren . He lived the last 3 years with his daughter, Barb and family near Brady, NE. He was a member of Church of Christ, and a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Survivors include his daughter Barbara (Ken) Stevens of Brady, Nebraska; six grandchildren; Jeremyah and children Justin and Jaya of Cozad, Nebraska; Jolene (Chris) Morris and children Alyssa, Morgan, and Elias, of Cozad, Nebraska; Tiffiny (Melissa) of Iowa and children Alec, Emily, and Ian; Darby (Nikki) and children Alexandria, Mariah, Aroque, Alijah, Jayden, and Ashton of Brady Nebraska; LaDonna (Jeff) Brock and boys Ty (Sariad) great great granddaughter Brinlye, Dade, and Dakin of Gothenburg, Nebraska; and Rebecca (Jeremy) Bartels and girls Harley and Preslee of Brady, Nebraska; one sister Mildred (Luverne) Gade of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming; three sister-in-laws Jerry (Carroll) Strader of Quartzsite, Arizona; Velma Kruse of Bird City, Kansas; and Maxine Kruse of Parma, Idaho; and one brother-in-law Francis Schrodt of Pinellas Park, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 2006; his brothers William, Herbert, Bernard, George, Floyd, and Lester Kruse; two sisters Alice Kruse and Esther (Kruse) Foster; great grandson Mickale Rosner; and one nephew Donald Kruse.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, January 22, 2015, 1:00 pm - 7:30 pm. with the family present from 6:30 to 7:30.

Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, January 23, 2015 at 1:30 pm.

Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
