Edward R. Krone

Edward R. Krone, 69, died June 19, 1992, at his home near Moorefield.

A bonded livestock buyer, he had been honored as a 50-year shipper to the Omaha Stockyards.

He was born March 20, 1923, north of Gothenburg on the Krone homestead, to Martin and Fay (Simon) Krone. He married Audrey Grunden on July 9, 1948. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Krone drove a semi-truck for FOB and was later employed at Huss Livestock at the Curtis Sale Barn.

He was a member of the American Legion 64 of Gothenburg, Farnam rural fire board and VFW Post 8146 of Farnam. He had served on both the District 4 School Board and Lincoln County election board.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey of Moorefield; a son and wife, Ed and Deb of Gothenburg; four daughters, Emilyn "Kay" Krone of Moorefield, Cheryn (Mrs. Gerald) Beck of Maxwell, Donna (Mrs. Kim) Stevens of Kearney and Mary (Mrs. Nick) Klintworth of Moorefield; and six grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his father and a grandchild.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Steven Todd and Bob Stevens officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Visitation will be today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 1-9 p.m.

McVay Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg is in charge of arrangements.
