Delores Lorene (Anderson) Knoedler

Delores Lorene Knoedler, 73, of Brady Nebraska, passed away at her home at Jeffrey Lake on March 26, 2007.

She was born on September 19, 1933, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, the youngest of four children of Charlie and Hattie Peterson Anderson. Delores grew up north of Gothenburg in the Etna Community and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1950.

On February 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to Harold E. Knoedler at St. John's Lutheran Church in Gothenburg where they made their home. They raised four children, Diane, Layne, Kirt, and Nancy. In October 1958, Harold and Delores opened an auto repair business called "Rite-Way Auto Service." Delores became the bookkeeper for the business that they continued to operate until 1992. In 1988, Harold and Delores sold their home in Gothenburg and moved to Jeffrey Lake south of Brady. Delores worked at Shores Bar & Grill in Brady for 12 years, retiring when the business closed in 2005. Delores enjoyed bowling for many years attending 42 consecutive state bowling tournaments, and used her talent of cooking to prepare large meals for family gatherings and hosting friends and family at their lake home.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Brady; children, Diane (Calvin) Streeter of Plugerville, Texas, Layne (Lyn) Knoedler of Kearney, Nebraska, Kirt (Heidi) Knoedler of Gothenburg and Nancy (Kenneth) Christensen of Gothenburg; a brother, Wesley Anderson and a sister, Opal Maline both of Gothenburg; 10 grandchildren, Brian Streeter, Aaron Streeter, Lance (Aimee) Knoedler, Lyndsey (Troy) Douglas, Joe Knoedler, Megan Knoedler, Mark Rudma, Stacy (Andy) Kubik, Isaac Christensen, and Eric Christensen; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Raegan Douglas and Adriana Christensen; special friend, Jan Cromer of Brady; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Wallace Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg with Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery Maxwell, Nebraska.

Memorials may be directed to, Brady Volunteer Fire Department, American Lutheran Church, or Callahan Cancer Center.

Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg is in charge of arrangements.
