Evonne Klein

STERLING, Colo. — Evonne Klein, 63, of Sterling, Colo., formerly of Curtis, died March 20, 2004, at the Sterling Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 13, 1940, to Walter and Helen Lenox Orman at Maywood. She was baptized and confirmed through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. She graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis in 1958 and attended business school in North Platte.

On July 12, 1958, she married Andrew Knepp.

On June 30, 1989, she married Ross Klein in Loveland, Colo. She was secretary of the Nebraska School of Agriculture for several years; the state president of Legal Secretaries; and manager of the Curtis Housing Authority. She worked for attorneys Fred Schroeder Sr. and Fred Schroeder Jr. She and her husband owned and operated Ross’s TV in Fort Morgan, Colo. They moved to Greeley in 1996 and she worked for J.C. Penney Company for three years before moving to Sterling in August 2002.

Mrs. Klein had a long struggle with cancer. She worked throughout her treatment up until the last seven or eight months. She enjoyed many different crafts and had a strong love of animals and enjoyed traveling. The love of her grandchildren was the light of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Ross Klein of Sterling; daughters, Corina (A.J.) Mulford of Kenesaw and Katrina Peterson of Curtis; her stepdaughters, Debbie (Ed) Krone of Gothenburg, Rhonda (Doug) Hill of Farnam and Cynthia (Mike) Widick of Greeley, Colo.; stepsons, Doug (Paula) Klein of Moorefield and Eric (Jolene) Klein of Greeley; 31 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon (Virginia) Orman of Hayes Center; nieces, Jackie (Danny) Loomis of Maywood and Sheri (Mike) Hamilton of Hayes Center; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Curtis with the Rev. Rick Sykes officiating. Burial is in the Maywood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.
