Jerry Lee Jurgens

Eustis — Jerry Lee Jurgens, 66, of Eustis, formerly of Farnam, died Nov. 5, 2003, at his home.

He was born Feb. 23, 1937, west of Moorefield in Frontier County to Chris A. and Eloise Wasley Jurgens. He was the youngest of their five children. He grew up in the Moorefield area where he attended grade school. He attended the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis and graduated in 1955. He moved to Denver in 1956 and worked in home construction.

On Sept. 1, 1957, he married Ruth L. Ernst at Farnam. They lived in Denver before moving south of Farnam in March 1958, where they farmed and operated a dairy until 1991. In 1991, they moved to Estes Park, Colo., for a year to manage a motel. From 1992 to 1995 they managed a motel in Kearney. On Feb. 5, 1995, he became a maintenance supervisor of the Dawson County Ag Society, where he was employed until the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; daughters, Debra Klein of Eustis, Judy (Duane) Schueth of Waverly, and Deanna (Owen) Wilson of Moorefield; a son, Rod (Stephanie) Jurgens of LeMars, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Steven (Elizabeth) Klein of Maywood, Daniel Nelsen of Moorefield, Janet Klein of Elwood, Erica and Joslyn Nelsen of Lincoln, Justin Klein of Eustis, and April, Matthew and Joshua Jurgens of LeMars, Iowa; great-grandson, Aaron Bonini of Elwood; a sister, Beverly (Denzil) Clegg of Granbury, Texas; a brother, Robert (Lois) Jurgens of Estes Park; an aunt, Caroline Langenberg of Bertrand; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; a grandson, Zachary Jurgens; a sister, Eileen Jurgens; and a brother, Richard.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Farnam Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Moorefield Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.
