Clarence R. Johnson
Clarence R. Johnson was born May 6, 1917, at Farnam to Philip and Elnora Johnson and died Dec. 11, 1981, at Cozad at the age of 64.
Clarence was married to Ruth Hinton in 1938. They farmed and worked in Wyoming and Farnam, Nebraska until 1953 when they moved to Eustis. Clarence bought the Hi-Line Implement which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1979.
Clarence was very civic-minded and active in many organizations and community projects. Some of these include: Eustis Lions Club, District Governor of Lion's International, Mayor of Eustis, Firechief, President of Eustis Fair Board, Member of Town Board, Boy Scouts Tri-Trails Council Scoutmaster, South Platte Chamber of Commerce, BPOE No. 2250 Charter member, member of Eustis United Methodist Church, Eustis Housing Association, Do-Developer of Bell-John addition, and Ambassador of Aksarben for 20 years. He was an avid fisherman.
Clarence was a giving, loving husband and a kind and caring father and grandfather. He loved his friends and will be remembered by them as a very special man.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his children: Terry and Gwen Johnson, Mandy and Darcy of Ogallala; Barbara and Bob Schwenk, Brennan, Benjie and Blakely of Denver; Carolyn and Denis Bluel, Jarrod and Melissa of Denver; Doug and Nancy Johnson, Wendy, Travis and Cory of Eustis; Scott and Debbie Johnson, Jadrion and Joseph of Gothenburg; his mother, Elnora of Cozad; his brothers: Ray of North Platte and Gene of Gothenburg; and his sister Dorothy (Mrs. Kenneth) Janus of Eustis.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 14, 1981, at the United Methodist Church in Eustis with Rev. Karl Lent officiating. Burial was in East Church Cemetery in Eustis. Organist was Mrs. Michael Karr. Soloist was Mrs. C. E. Swanson. Music was two selections of "Going Home". Pallbearers were Kenneth Brauer, Ralph Adams, Gilbert Kiesel, Don Brockmeier, Willard Bellamy and Robert Bartruff. Honorary bearers were John Brown, Edward Hueftle, Harley Nichelson, Howard Wolf, Elgar Dempsey, Dan Wahl, Wayne Gruber and Cloid Ringenberg.
