Eva M. Hyatt
Eva Hyatt, 73, of Elwood died Oct. 31, 2000, at the Elwood Care Center.
She was born Sept. 23, 1927, at Cozad to William and Verna Stigler Fritz. At an early age, she moved to Eustis with her parents where she attended rural school and graduated from Eustis High School. She taught rural schools in Dawson County and received college credit hours from Kearney State Teacher's College while teaching.
On June 20, 1948, she married Paul Hyatt. They made their home at Cozad and she continued teaching until 1964, when the couple moved to Boulder, Colo. In 1971, they moved to Farnam where the couple owned and operated the Farnam Lumber Co. until 1991, when they moved to Elwood.
Mrs. Hyatt was a member of the Farnam United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Brenda Poggendorf of Elwood, Robyn (Larry Joe) Wilcox of Silver Creek and Janelle (Rodney) Jack of Eustis; a sister, Kathryn (Elmer) Puls of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a brother, Earl (Jean) Fritz of North Platte; nine grandchildren, Shannon and Jody Poggendorf, Miranda, Kirsten and Libby Wilcox, William, Katelyn and Rachel Jack and Coleen (Mike) Cook; and a great-grandson, Jacob Cook.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Schmeeckle.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with the Rev. Richard Boring of Elwood officiating. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery northeast of Cozad.
