Robert W. High, 86, Kearney, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. Born on June 17, 1923 in Bertrand to Robert and Berniece (Neutzman) High. Graduate of Bertrand High School later graduating from the UNL. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. Married to Dorthy Stevens on August 17, 1948 at Farnam, Nebraska. They lived in Kearney were he worked for banking and insurance firms. He was a member of the church, an avid fisherman, Nebraska football fan and a promoter of Nebraska.

Survivors include his son, Chris of Lincoln; daughter, Anne of Kearney; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother-in-law, Keith Fasteneau; sister-in-law, Doris High. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Robert.

Funeral services; 11 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Kearney. The Revs. Eric Lesher and Rebecca Craig will officiate. Burial; 2 p.m. at Immanuel Cemetery north of Bertrand. Military rites will be conducted at graveside by the NE National Guard Honors Team in conjunction with American Legion Post 67 of Bertrand. Visitation; 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday at O'Brien Straatmann Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Humane Society. On-line condolences may be submitted to osafh.com.
