Doris D. Hergenrader

Doris D. Hergenrader, 80, of North Platte, died Dec. 15, 2011, at her home.

She was born July 30, 1931, to Elmer and Eva (Keiper) Hilton in Farnam. She grew up in the Cozad and Gothenburg areas and graduated in 1949 from Gothenburg High School.

On July 22, 1951, Doris was united in marriage to George J. Hergenrader at Cozad. The couple lived in Cozad until 1969, then moved to North Platte, where George worked for Northwestern Public Service and Doris was a secretary for numerous offices and agencies.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, past member of Mrs. Jaycee's, Business and Professional Women and of BPO Does in Cozad.

Doris loved her family and friends. She was vibrant and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband, George, of North Platte; three children, Karen (Steve) Lyne, of McCook, Brenda (Bill) Faust and Brian (Becky) Hergenrader, both of North Platte; eight grandchildren, Greg, Jodi, Shawn, Becca, Bret, Kate, Cory and Melissa; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Hilton, of Gothenburg and Marvin (Carol) Hilton, of Kearney; and a sister, June (Jerry) Walker, of North Platte.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Leonard Hilton.

Online condolences may be shared at carpentermemorial.com Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating. Inurnment will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m., at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established in her memory.
