Nellie Lucett Wear Halley
MCCOOK — Nellie Lucett Wear Halley, 83, of McCook formerly of Curtis, died Jan. 18, 2004, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was born April 30, 1920, to Ira and Christy Ellen Adkisson Wear, at Ingham.
On June 26, 1935, she was married to Gerald J. Halley at Elwood. After marriage she and Gerald farmed south of Curtis, in Frontier County for many years. She moved into Sunset Haven in Curtis in 1993 and in 1995, she moved to Hillcrest in McCook. He preceded her in death May 23, 1999.
Mrs. Halley was a past member of the Extension Club and Social Club in Curtis. She had been a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader in the past. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing for many years and she also enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include three daughters, Thelma (Rodney) Carpenter of McCook, Peggy Halley of Cambridge, and Ellen (Stuart) Perkins of Seymour, Tenn.; a son, Marvin (Beverly) Halley of Farnam; a sister, Lewise Smallfoot of Gibbon; nine grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren; and many friends at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.
Memorials are suggested to the Arbor Cemetery Fund.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Arbor Cemetery in Stockville with the Rev. Danny Strange officiating. Burial will be in the Arbor Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.
