Edna Griffis

Edna Marlin Griffis, 79, of Gothenburg died Sept. 13, 1999, at her home.

She was born June 6, 1920, to Julius E. and Eunice E. Castor Marlin at Farnam.

On April 13, 1936, she married Syrenus S. Griffis at Stockville. He preceded her in death. She lived at Cozad, Gothenburg and Broken Bow, where she worked at the Becton-Dickenson plant for 14 years. She also spent two years in Oklahoma.

Mrs. Griffis loved crocheting dolls and doing crafts. She loved all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

She is survived by four daughters, Viola (Melvin) Larsen of Fort Lupton, Colo., Sharon (Don) Friesenborg of Gothenburg, Bonnie (John) Freeman of Jay, Okla., and Eunice Moore of Broken Bow; a son, Jack (Mary) Griffis of Cozad; three stepsons, Floyd, LaVern and Clayton Griffis; two sisters, Elsie (Bob) Gerrard and Helen Peterson, both of North Platte; a brother, Bernard (Ila) Marlin of Green River, Wyo.; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Marlin of Gothenburg, Alta Marlin of Riverside, Calif., and Mildred Marlin of Hershey; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy and John; her parents; three brothers, Charles E., John and Clarence; two infant half-brothers; two stepsons; Carl and Clifford Griffis; a grandson, Donald Larsen; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Wear; and a brother-in-law; Gifford Peterson.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Walnut Grove Cemetery north of Cozad with the Rev. Steve Bales officiating. The body was cremated.
