George F. Foote
George F. Foote, 73, died September 24, 1997 at his home in North Platte, Nebraska. He was born August 4, 1924 at Farnam to Grover and Eleanor (Austin) Foote.
He graduated from Farnam High School in 19?? and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was a machinist's mate aboard the USS Hall and also served during the Korean conflict.
In August of 1945 he married LaVon Cochran. Following his discharge from the Navy in 1952, he farmed in Minnesota and Wisconsin and moved to North Platte in 1965. He moved to Manhattan, KS in 1975 where he was employed by Kershaw Ready Mix until his retirement. He returned to the North Platte and Maxwell communities in 1990.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan.
Survivors include four daughters, Sharon (Richard) Little of littleton, CO,, and Connie Hill, Rhonda (Bill) Ownbey, and Cathy Richards, all of Canon City, CO; a son, Doug (Natalie) of North Platte; a brother, Thurman (Delma) of Maywood; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:30 am Monday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Townsend of First Baptist Church in Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors graveside.
Visitation will be 9 am to 9 pm today and 1-9 pm Sunday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, NE.
